Almost 80% of workers who lost their jobs when a Teesside factory was shut down have found new jobs or are in training, according to figures. In January, South Korean electronics giant Samsung announced it was closing its plant at Wynyard, near Billingham, with the loss of more than 400 jobs.
A project group was set up to help the redundant workers find new jobs.
In all, 397 people lost their jobs and of those 286 have found new work and 28 are on full-time training courses.
Pursuing claim
From the total workforce of 418, just 21 were kept on at the site to wind down operations.
When the factory closure was announced, Jobcentre Plus staff and other partners set up on the site to offer advice.
Samsung Project Group chairman and Stockton Borough Council chief executive, George Garlick. said: "We promised to provide as much help as we possibly could to redundant workers and these figures are extremely positive.
"However, the work of the project group is far from over. We will continue to work to help the remaining employees find new opportunities and we will continue to track their progress."
Last month, the Department of Trade and Industry confirmed it was pursuing a claim against Samsung to pay back at least part of a multi-million pound grant it used to set up the factory on Teesside.
