A non-league football club in Surrey is set to embark on a major ground and facilities expansion after agreeing a land deal with the local authority. Woking FC - currently playing in the Blue Square premier division - plans to redevelop its Kingfield stadium.
Now Woking Borough Council has said it is prepared to sell an adjacent piece of land to the football club.
Sale proceeds will go towards flood prevention work, new homes and a nature reserve in Woking's Westfield area.
Woking FC's plans include increased stadium capacity, as well as football and conference facilities for the wider community.
Club chairman Chris Ingram said: "We will now go forward to draw up detailed plans for new facilities on the Kingfield site that will provide a stadium worthy of our fans, our community and our town."
