Shaun the Sheep has been popular with audiences around the globe |
A new 7m art gallery and museum is set to open its doors with an exhibition showing unseen material from the CBBC show Shaun the Sheep. The Lightbox, in Woking, Surrey, will open on 14 September with an event looking at the work of the programme's makers Aardman Animation.
The multi-media attraction is the culmination of more than 10 years work.
Lightbox will also feature behind the scenes footage from the Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run films.
Arts activities
Lightbox director Marilyn Scott said: "This link is an obvious one for the town.
"Co-creators of Aardman Animations Ltd David Sproxton and Peter Lord are former Woking Grammar School boys who shared their love of drawing cartoons in the school magazine."
The exhibition's organisers said visitors would be taken on a journey through the world of animated filmmaking.
More than 10 years of work have been put into developing the arts attraction for Woking.
A shop and cafe on the ground floor boast views across the gallery's gardens to the canal.
The Lightbox brand already exists in the town, running arts activities and projects for local people.
