Hospitals facing closure could win reprieves but lose their in-patient beds, primary care trust managers are likely to decide. Revised plans on health cover in West Suffolk will reveal Walnuttree Hospital in Sudbury is to stay open until a replacement is built.
The managers holding an extraordinary meeting in Bury St Edmunds will also save Newmarket Hospital from closure.
But in-patient beds are likely to be lost at both hospitals.
Heathfields mental health centre in Newmarket had been recommended for closure but may also get a reprieve.
