It is hoped the number of accidents will be reduced |
One of the region's major roads has been given a speed limit of 50mph. The limit the A140 between Ipswich in Suffolk and the Norfolk border has been imposed by Suffolk County Council as a one year trial.
Flashing signs are to go up this week telling drivers if they are too close or travelling too fast.
It is hoped the number of accidents will be reduced as there are 31 injury accidents a year on that stretch of the road. It carries 14,000 vehicles a day.
Suffolk County Council has put a 50 mph maximum speed on its 15-mile stretch of the A140, with speed limits in some areas restricted to 30 or 40 mph.
