Plans for what could be one of East Anglia's largest land-based windfarm have been put forward. Saxon Power is in talks with Waveney District Council over a possible 10 turbine windfarm at St James, near Bungay, on the Suffolk and Norfolk border.
The �12m scheme, which is in its early stages, will site the turbines on the old Metfield Airfield, home to US air crews during World War II.
It could provide electricity for about 24,000 homes.
A formal planning application is likely to be made later this year and then the plans will go out to local consultation.

If plans are approved the windfarm could be up and running by 2005.
Some people living near to the proposed site have expressed concern that the 10 turbines will cause noise pollution and be a blot on the landscape.
But Bill Richmond, who is a director of Saxon Windpower, said they will be quiet and a valuable resource to provide power without harming the environment.
He said the Ipswich-based company would want to work with local people in developing the windfarm.
He said he would be happy to take people to a windfarm in order to combat concerns over noise.
"We hope to engage with the community and convince people that a lot of their concerns can be met," he said.
