The factory has been plagued by arson since it closed in 2005 |
The former Royal Doulton headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent could be partially demolished and replaced with homes. Plans have been submitted to the city council to redevelop the site in Nile Street, Burslem. The factory closed down with the loss of 500 jobs in 2005 and has been plagued by arson attacks since. Property developer St Modwen has applied to knock down nine buildings and convert the remainder into officers and workspace for new businesses. It has also applied for outline planning permission for a further 140 homes. The city council will discuss the plans next week.
