Officials from Stoke-on-Trent City Council will be out in the city on Friday to check for bogus charity collections.

A spokesman said the push will come on one of the busiest days of the year when people give hard-earned money to a worthy cause.

Anyone collecting in the centre on Friday night will need a permit.
