Pudsey bear on Cheddarvision
The cheese has more than 1,250 registered MySpace friends
A 44lb Somerset cheddar cheese which internet audiences have watched maturing since January will be auctioned for Children In Need.

Weginald, as the cheese has been named, has attracted more than a million viewers to Cheddarvision TV.

Dom Lane, of West Country Farmhouse cheese-makers said he hopes Weginald's high profile means it will fetch a record price for the charity.

In September, the cheese was tested for depth of taste and maturity.

Cheese taster Tom Calver said the cheese exhibited "hints of caramel and a note of grass".

The cheese has also become a big hit on internet site MySpace with more than 1,250 registered friends.
