Fans' behaviour praised by police
Britannia Stadium
Police made three arrests during the game
Police have praised Stoke City and Colchester United football fans after Saturday's Championship match between the teams passed off peacefully.

Officers had warned supporters to behave after trouble erupted at last week's Britannia Stadium game between Stoke and Hull fans.

Staffordshire Police made three arrests on Saturday.

One man was arrested for pitch encroachment, another for assault and another for racist chanting.

The investigation into the previous game, when officers were pelted with missiles by supporters, is continuing.

Supt Bernie O'Reilly said: "I am pleased with how our operation went. We showed that fans can attend a major sporting event in our city in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere."

Stoke won Saturday's game 3-1 against their rivals for a play-off place.
