Paramedic sets marathon challenge
Ray Edensor
He will start running on 29 March and hopes to finish on 23 April
A Staffordshire paramedic is in training to complete the London Marathon 26 times in as many days.

Ray Edensor hopes running the 680 miles will raise 50,000 for a children's charity. He completed the same course last year in a decontamination suit.

The 45-year-old, from Castlefields, has worked for the Staffordshire Ambulance Service for more than 20 years.

Mr Edensor said he has raised more than 120,000 for charity during the last four years.

The money has helped 20 seriously ill children from Stafford Hospital to go to Disneyland in Florida with their families.

He will start running on 29 March and hopes to finish on 23 April, the day of the London Marathon.

He took up running in 1994 after attending a series of bad accidents and the death of a close friend.

After a couple of marathons, he decided to run in his green paramedic uniform and carry his paramedic life-saving kit in a rucksack, which weighs 20lb.

In 2004, he was assaulted as he and a friend collected donations as they neared the end of another charity run from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower.
