Marathon man assaulted en-route
Ray Edensor
Mr Edensor first took up running in 1994
A paramedic from Staffordshire who is attempting to run 20 marathons in 20 days for charity has been assaulted.

Ray Edensor is nearing the end of his run which has taken him from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower to raise money for terminally ill children.

He suffered injuries to his face in the attack during a collection at a supermarket in Wigan.

Mr Edensor's friend, Dave Jenkinson, said they are determined to finish the run for the Dreams Come True charity.

The 45-year-old, from Castlefields, has worked for the Staffordshire Ambulance Service for more than 20 years.

He took up running in 1994 after attending a series of bad accidents and the death of a close friend.

After a couple of marathons he decided to run in his green paramedic uniform and carry his paramedic life saving kit in a rucksack which weighs 20lb.

His latest run started on 10 April and he is due to reach Blackpool Tower on Friday.
