The parents of two teenage girls killed in a car crash have appealed for witness to contact police.

Rebecca Casterton, 13, and Lauren Brooks, 12, died when their car collided with a lorry on the A38 in Clay Mills, near Burton, Staffordshire.

The car, being driven by Lauren's mother Irene Corrie, veered across the road and crashed into an oncoming car.

A 50-year-old man was arrested and released on police bail following the crash on 20 January.

'Thanks and gratitude'

Rebecca, from Barton-under-Needwood, near Burton, died at the scene while Lauren, from Burton, died in hospital. Her mother suffered minor injuries.

Both girls were pupils at John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood.

Rebecca's mother Ruth Anslow said: "Both families would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all the people who stopped to help at the time of the collision and gave their details to the police.

"We would urge anyone else who was there at the time to come forward and give their details to the police so that a thorough investigation can be carried out."
