A lorry driver arrested after two teenage girls were killed when the car they were in collided with a lorry has been released on police bail.

Rebecca Mary Casterton, 13, of Barton-under-Needwood and Lauren Jean Brooks, 12, of Burton-upon-Trent were killed on the A38 in Staffordshire.

Both girls were pupils at John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood.

Police arrested the 50-year-old lorry driver, from Telford, Shropshire, shortly after the accident.

In a statement Lauren's father Dave Brooks and her mother, Irene Corrie, said: "Lauren was a gorgeous little girl and was turning into a beautiful young lady.

"She was full of energy and had a heart of gold with many friends."

She was athletic and enjoyed horse riding, they added.
