Football legend's boots auctioned
Sir Stanley Matthews' boots
Sir Stanley's last game was for Stoke City against Fulham
A pair of football boots worn by Sir Stanley Matthews in his final league match have fetched 560 at auction.

Sir Stanley's glory days were at Blackpool, but he wore the boots at the end of his 33-year professional career for Stoke City against Fulham in 1965.

The boots went under the hammer at Britannia House in Sir Stanley's native Hanley, Stoke on Trent.

They were bought by a telephone bidder from Aberystwyth, who collects football memorabilia.

The boots had been given by Sir Stanley to a porter at the Grand Hotel in Stafford after the final game.

The porter's son Paul Oliver said he found them when he was clearing out his loft and wanted them to go to a collector.

Sir Stanley, one of the most famous footballers of his generation, played 54 times for his country and thought by many to be England's greatest-ever footballer.

In 1964 became the first player to be knighted. He died in 2000 aged 85.
