Sir Stanley museum call renewed
The house where Sir Stanley Matthews was born
Bob Ahmed says there are not enough tributes to Sir Stanley
The owner of the childhood home of football legend Sir Stanley Matthews is renewing his call for the terraced house to be turned into a museum.

Businessman Bob Ahmed paid 45,000 for 89 Seymour Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, in January 2003.

Sir Stanley, who played 54 times for England, was born there in 1915.

Mr Ahmed is hoping he can convince local people and Stoke City Football Club that a museum inside the property would be an ideal tribute.

Mr Ahmed said: "He got paid peanuts, basically, for some of the best football being played at the time and he's not remembered as much as she should be.

"We've got a couple of statues of him but we could do more - we're a football nation.

"I'm sure some of the older fans would definitely like to visit where he was born.

"And it would make another focal point for Stoke."
