Bob Ahmed says there are not enough tributes to Sir Stanley |
The owner of the childhood home of football legend Sir Stanley Matthews is renewing his call for the terraced house to be turned into a museum. Businessman Bob Ahmed paid 45,000 for 89 Seymour Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, in January 2003.
Sir Stanley, who played 54 times for England, was born there in 1915.
Mr Ahmed is hoping he can convince local people and Stoke City Football Club that a museum inside the property would be an ideal tribute.
Mr Ahmed said: "He got paid peanuts, basically, for some of the best football being played at the time and he's not remembered as much as she should be.
"We've got a couple of statues of him but we could do more - we're a football nation.
"I'm sure some of the older fans would definitely like to visit where he was born.
"And it would make another focal point for Stoke."
