Residents of a Staffordshire village close to the M6 are holding a meeting over the impact of plans to extend the toll road. Calf Heath near Cannock is close to junctions 11 and 12 of the M6, which would run alongside the new toll road linking Birmingham and Manchester.
Residents say the new road which would join the existing M6 Toll would have a devastating effect on their community.
The meeting will take place on Friday evening in Calf Heath village hall.
In July the Transport Secretary Alistair Darling announced plans to extend the existing M6 Toll.
Environmental impact
Residents in Calf Heath claim the plans would have an environmental impact and they claim a number of homes could be demolished.
Brian Gregory, organiser of the meeting, said: "Our main concern is we already have the M6 running through the village.
"Any plans to build a new toll motorway or to widen the M6 would have serious effects on our village.
"We already have enough pollution and noise."
People attending the meeting will be urged to write Alistair Darling stating their objections to the proposals.
