A library in Staffordshire could get a half a million pound revamp next year following months of discussions. An independent panel was appointed earlier this year, to review two options for Stone Library.
The panel held its final meeting last week and will publish the recommendations in mid-June
If the chosen plan is accepted by Staffordshire County Council, work should begin next August.
Residents in Stone have previously voted for an extension to Stone Library following a five week consultation exercise.
This was preferred to re-housing the library stock at the back of the town council offices, in Station Road - which was the choice of a council working group.
Many local residents were at the final meeting of the independent panel on Wednesday to discuss plans for the future of the library.
