A 17-year-old driver escaped with injuries this week |
A bereaved father wants speed cameras placed at a notorious accident spot after a smash which was almost an exact copy of a crash in which his son died. There have been three deaths in as many years on the King Offa Way, Bexhill.
After Stuart Doe, 25, was killed last year, a campaign led to crash barriers being installed on the road.
But his father, John, said they were no use when a car went out of control this week, clearing the barrier. The 17-year-old driver escaped with injuries.
Leader of Rother District Council Cllr Graham Gubby was part of a delegation, along with the town's MP, which successfully lobbied a transport minister to get the barrier installed.

He said: "We have had far too many crashes here.
"What we need to do now is to ensure that the police, together with the Highways Department of the county council, recognise the need and, sooner rather than later, put in place speed cameras.
"We've got to educate people to slow down.
"If there is a risk of danger, people have got to take responsibility."
Mr Doe said each accident on the road always left his stomach "churning".
Motorbike death
"One day there are going to be a lot more people killed," he said.
"You'll probably get a lorry go through here."
He added: "This barrier obviously hasn't helped with the situation, but I think a speed camera would.
"I am sure that would be the answer."
Street lighting on King Offa Way remains out of action after the death of a motorcyclist killed when his machine hit a lamppost in April.
