Conference policing plans set out
The Brighton Centre
'Island sites' were created around Labour conference venues
Plans for policing the next conference in Brighton in November are being outlined at a Sussex Police Authority meeting on Thursday.

The Association of Police Authorities annual conference takes place at the Metropole Hotel on November 23 and 24.

More than 1,000 police and support staff were involved in Operation Otter during the Labour Party conference.

Police authority chairman Mark Dunn has said the security operation was "thoroughly professional".

The 2.375m operation during the conference, paid for by central Government, involved barriers around the city, armed police patrols and the creation of an "island site" around conference venues.

Sussex Police worked with the Army, Group 4 security and other police forces, including Kent Police, on the operation.

The police authority meeting at County Hall, Lewes, is being web cast for the first time on the police authority's website, using facilities provided by East Sussex County Council.
