Model plane noise prompts anger
A model plane
Lewes council says it will look into any complaints made
Residents in a village in East Sussex are angry about the noise of model aircraft being flown near their homes.

People living in Hamsey, near Lewes, say enthusiasts flying the planes are disturbing their tranquillity.

The models are often flown by members of Eastbourne District Model Flying Club but members have said they are unaware of any complaints.

They have also said they comply with noise guidelines when flying the 2ft model aeroplanes near the village.

'Nature of the beast'

Terry Squires, a Hamsey resident, said: "It is not the principle of flying that is the problem.

"It is the noise and I think if they get those silencers the planes do not fly as high or quite as fast and they do get the same thrill."

But Shaun Clay, form the Eastbourne District Model Flying Club, said: "Model aircraft do make a noise it is the nature of the beast but we do try our very best to the keep that noise to a minimum."

Lewes District Council said it would look into any complaints from residents.
