The couple plan to go on holiday to Hawaii with their winnings |
A couple returned from a meal celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary to find they had won the 2.3m Lotto jackpot. Geraldine and Bryan Coghlin, who are both 56, were so shocked when their numbers came up on Wednesday's double rollover they had to ask a relative to double check the ticket.
Mr Coghlin said he and his wife arrived back at their house in Littlehampton, West Sussex, and checked their numbers on Teletext.
He said: "I thought we had just won a tenner at first but then Geraldine saw that we had all six numbers.

"Then I called my brother and asked him to check the ticket". Mr Coghlin, who works as a fitter at a chemical plant and was in fear of redundancy a few weeks ago quit work the day after the win.
The father-of-two said: "We are absolutely gob smacked. It is gently sinking in but it is going to take a while for us to come to terms with it."
The couple are already planning a holiday in Hawaii with their winnings and said they may have to upgrade their Christmas presents after finishing their shopping a few weeks ago.
They also plan to buy a detached home to replace the three-bedroom terrace they have lived in for the past 31 years.
