Milly Dowler disappeared on her way home from school in March 2002

The video, entitled Watch Over Me, is to be provided to every school in the UK.

It was commissioned by Milly's Fund - the charity set up in memory of 13-year-old Amanda Dowler, known as Milly, who was killed last year.

The five-part soap opera aims to show children how to plan their personal safety.

The Department for Education and Skills and the Home Office have helped fund the project.

Milly disappeared in March 2002 while walking home from school in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey.

Her remains were discovered in Yateley Heath Woods in Hampshire six months later in September.

The schoolgirl's funeral was held a year to the day after she vanished.

Her parents Sally and Bob Dowler set up Milly's Fund in the wake of their daughter's death and the video is the first major project it has produced.

Mrs Dowler said: "The soap opera is unique as a teaching resource because it's not text-based and uses dramatic scenarios to get young people to think about the broad range of personal safety issues they face.

"We've had a trial run using the drama in a school and it's produced great results among the pupils."

The video features testimonies from teenagers and celebrities about the risks they have faced in their own lives.

Actress Lynda Bellingham plays a starring role in the drama and will be at the launch, as will television presenter Chris Tarrant, who is the patron of Milly's Fund.

Watch Over Me will be launched at the House of Commons with Home Secretary David Blunkett and Education Secretary Charles Clarke expected to be at the event.
