Race tickets snapped up in hours
The top tickets for the St Leger race meeting being staged at Doncaster's revamped course have been snapped up within hours of going on sale.

The South Yorkshire course will host the traditional last race of the flat season after it undergoes a 35m makeover, including a new grandstand.

Badges for the new premier enclosure sold within two hours and online inquiries swamped the course website.

Last year the meeting was held at York as the Doncaster rebuild was under way.

Around 30,000 race goers are expected for the St Leger on 15 September.

Jo Mappletoft of Doncaster Racecourse said: "The interest is huge and the volume of people booking online has caused us one or two problems.

"We've never experienced anything like this before, it's almost as if we're opening a brand new racecourse."
