The RSPCA said Jake was dumped "without a second thought" |
The owners of a terrier-cross found abandoned "without a second thought" are being hunted by the RSPCA. The two-year-old dog, named Jake by RSPCA staff, was found wandering around the Morgan Avenue area of Sheffield on Sunday 21 August.
The animal was in pain from a severe flea infestation and also had several skin infections.
The dog, which is now being cared for at Bawtry Animal Centre, was also hairless and covered in raw scabs.
RSPCA Insp Matt Bell said it would have taken months for the dog to get into such a poor state.

His eyes and ears were infected as were his paws, which had swollen to twice their normal size.
Insp Bell said: "I feel sure Jake belongs to someone in the area.
"He has not been straying for long as the pads of his feet were soft and his claws were overgrown, suggesting he had probably been confined for long periods in a very flea-infested house."
"Whoever owned him callously watched his condition deteriorate without paying any heed and it now appears they've dumped him without a second thought."
Once Jake is fit he will be rehomed.
