Police impose a curfew on estate
Youth being questioned by police officer
Police will take home anyone caught breaking the curfew
A curfew has been placed on teenagers "loitering" on a Barnsley estate.

Police have been given powers to move on groups of two or more people found hanging around the Kendray area.

Young people under the age of 16 will be taken home or to a place of safety if found unaccompanied on the streets between 2100 and 0600 BST.

The sixth-month order follows similar operations in other areas of South Yorkshire. Police said the curfew was in response to residents' complaints.

People living in the area had been subject to intimidation and harassment, a spokesperson added.

Acting Superintendent Keith Lumley said: "We will aim to enforce the order thoroughly to stamp out unacceptable behaviour in Kendray.

"The action is proportionate to the extent and frequency of problems being experienced in the area and represents a positive measure to compliment other measures in Kendray."

The area covered by the order is bordered by Leslie Road and Reginald Road.
