Jordan was found unconscious by a nine-year-old friend

Jordan Dixon was playing on the inflatable during his father's 25th birthday party at their home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on 9 August 2003.

The inquest was told he fell about six feet off one of the castle's walls and landed on his head.

In a statement read to Rotherham Coroner's Court, his mother Emma Whitelam said she had lost count of the number of times she had told him not to climb the walls.

She said: "Jordan would get down and the next time I looked he was up there again."

Accidental death

Ms Whitelam described how she was alerted to her unconscious son by a nine-year-old friend.

Attempts were made to resuscitate him in the house and in the hospital, the inquest heard.

Consultant pathologist Leonard Harvey told the court Jordan died as a result of brain and lung injuries from the impact.

Rotherham coroner Stanley Hooper recorded a verdict of accidental death.

He said police inquiries found no faults with the bouncy castle and that it had been constructed correctly by Jordan's father, David Dixon.

Mr Hooper added: "This is the tragic death of a lovely little chap who obviously enjoyed life and lived his short life to the full."
