The bus operator First has been fined more than 50,000 for running poor services in Somerset. The fine was imposed by the Traffic Commissioner after investigations revealed one in five services did not arrive on time or failed to turn up.
In all, the performance of 476 buses in Yeovil, Weston-super-Mare, Bath, Taunton and Minehead was monitored.
Tony Anthistle, of First, apologised to customers and said the company had taken remedial action.
"We assure you that we are working closely with local authorities to continuously improve the quality of the service we provide," he added.
