The festival will attract thousands
Roads around Glastonbury are being closed from Saturday in preparation for the annual music festival.

Stewards will be positioned at road blocks around Worthy Farm and only residents or those with "legitimate business" will be allowed through.

The festival's traffic manager, Steve Russell-Yarde, says every effort is being made not to inconvenience the area's residents.

"The planning for this goes on all year round, and is continually reviewed."

Crime reduction

Roads around Pilton and Sticklinch will be closed from Saturday, and around Pill, Little and West Pennard from Monday.

A total of 20 footpaths in the area will also be closed.

The festival runs from Friday, 25 June until Sunday, 27 June

The police operation begins on 23 June and continues until 29 June.

In 2003, there were record low levels of crime on the site and in Pilton.

There was a 43% reduction in reported crime, with 360 crimes reported to the police, throughout the five-day event.
