Police hope peace will reign at Glastonbury this year |
Police officers have been quizzed by members of the public in an online debate about the policing of this year's Glastonbury Festival. The web chat on Wednesday was hosted by two senior officers who will help oversee the policing of the event.
Ch Supt Mark Thompson and Supt Adrian Coombs took part in the live chat on the Avon and Somerset website from 1800 BST until 2000 BST.
Around 150,000 are expected to flock to Worthy Farm for the three-day festival.
The police operation at Glastonbury begins on 23 June and continues until 29 June.
The Avon and Somerset force already runs a Glastonbury Festival section on its website, containing travel and health and safety advice.
New powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 also mean the force is geared up to stop raves before they start.
In 2003 there were record low levels of crime on the site and in the village of Pilton in Somerset.
There was a 43% reduction in reported crime, with 360 crimes reported to the police, throughout the five-day event.
