Police warn over festival crime
Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage
Crime levels were down at the 2003 festival
Police have warned criminals and pop music fans without tickets to stay away from the Glastonbury festival.

In 2003 there were record low levels of crime on the site and in the village of Pilton in Somerset.

There was a 43% reduction in reported crime, with 360 crimes reported to the police, throughout the five-day event.

"If you don't have a ticket, stay away and if you are thinking of coming to the festival to commit crime, think again," said Chief Supt Mark Thompson.

"We have undercover and uniform officers on the site and in the village of Pilton 24 hours a day.

"We will be checking vehicles as they travel to the site.

"We appreciate that the majority of festival-goers attend the event for the right reasons and we want them to enjoy the event."

The festival runs from Friday, 25 June until Sunday, 27 June.
