92% of respondents were concerned about climate change |
A majority of people in Somerset who responded to a survey say they support the principle of generating renewable energy from wind turbines. Results of the Environment and Quality of Life survey show more than 80% support the use of renewable energy.
The county council has moved quickly to respond by installing a six kilowatt wind turbine at the Charterhouse Education Centre the Mendips.
The survey was carried out between February and April this year.
It was carried out on behalf of a number of organisations and local authorities.
Of the 4,000 people who responded, 92% said they were concerned about climate change.
The data will be used by Somerset County Council to develop a renewable energy strategy.
