Family tribute to dive death woman
Hope's Nose
Investigations are continuing into the incident
The family of a woman from Somerset who died in a diving accident off the Devon coast have paid tribute to her.

Experienced diver Patricia Mayor, 44, died on Friday after getting into difficulties as she explored a wreck seven miles off Exmouth.

On Monday, her husband David and 19-year-old son Robert said they were mourning the loss of a "soulmate and a devoted mum".

Mrs Mayor, from Aller, Somerset, had been a Ministry of Defence police constable for 24 years, serving at the Royal Naval Air Station at Yeovilton.

She had recently completed a tour of duty in Kosovo, where she headed the United Nations police counselling and support team.

The statement from her family, released through Devon and Cornwall Police, said she was "an outstanding individual whose joy of life and unstinting friendship was valued by all who knew her".

Her family expressed thanks to her fellow divers and boat crew who tried to save her life, and the emergency services.

Police inquiries into the incident are continuing.
