Woman scuba diver dies
Hope's Nose
Attempts were made to resuscitate the woman diver
A woman has died after scuba diving off the south Devon coast.

Police say the 44-year-old woman, who was from Somerset, died on Friday afternoon.

The dive vessel Interconnect was four miles off Hope's Nose, near Torquay, when it radioed Brixham Coastguards to say an unconscious diver had surfaced.

Teignmouth and Torbay Coastguards and the Coastguard Rescue helicopter were called out.

Attempts were made to resuscitate the diver before she was airlifted to Torbay Hospital, but she was dead on arrival.

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out to find out why the woman died.

A police spokesman said: "She was an experienced diver. She had been diving to a depth of about 20 metres."
