Shropshire stationery supplier Lyreco UK has announced plans to cut more than 60 jobs across the UK and Ireland. The French-owned company, based in Donnington Wood, Telford, said the current market climate meant its growth had slowed and it needed to cut posts. The cuts amount to 3% of the total workforce at its 28 depots and could include up to 30 posts in Telford. The firm said it hoped to reduce the amount of lost posts to 40 by introducing a shorter working week. Under such circumstances the number of staff made redundant in Telford would be 12. A consultation period has begun with staff who work in the customer service, distribution and head office divisions. Lyreco deals in stationery, furniture and computer supplies.
