Fire service attacks hoax callers
A fire service has revealed almost half of all the calls it received in the last year were hoaxes.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had 422 hoax calls last year and had to send crews out to 142 of them.

The number of false alarms has also risen to about 2,500 - an increase of about 500 in the past three years, the service said.

It said it traced the phone numbers of all calls and hoaxers' numbers were passed to the police.
