Safety alert over injury figures
More than 170 children were killed or injured on Telford's roads in the last two years, according to new figures.

As a result road safety officers have sent letters to schoolchildren in the town warning them of the dangers.

Pc Micky Riggs and Amanda Roberts from Telford & Wrekin Council have spelled out how youngsters can play, cycle and travel safely.

The Safe Summer Holiday Campaign is also reminding parents and carers to think about road safety.

Pc Riggs said: "When children are on their own they don't always make the right decision when it comes to road safety.

"They either don't have enough knowledge or are easily distracted, and that's when accidents happen.

"We would urge parents or carers to supervise younger children playing at all times because they are more likely to have a road accident when you are not with them."
