Union leaders' bid to save jobs
Union leaders from the Telford factory which produces the Warrior armoured vehicle will travel to London on Tuesday in a bid to save the plant.

BAe Systems, which took over the Hadley Castle site from Alvis Vickers in September, blames a shortage of orders for its decision to close the factory.

It will result in the loss of more than 100 jobs.

The company wants to move the rest of the workforce to smaller premises in the Telford area.

BAe Systems now wants to concentrate on maintenance contracts.

Union leaders will hold talks with the Defence Procurement Minister Lord Bach on Tuesday. They hope this will result in more orders

Marc Bergman, the regional officer with the GMB Union, said workers feel bitter.
