New ambulance HQ 'in 18 months'
The head of Shropshire's ambulance service says they are hoping to have a new headquarters in Shrewsbury within 18 months.

A proposed scheme for a joint HQ with the fire service fell through earlier this year.

Chief executive of West Midlands and Shropshire Ambulance Service, Barry Johns, says they hope to move to Shrewsbury Business Park by April 2006.

They are currently based next to Shire Hall on Abbey Foregate in the town.

Mr Johns said: "We were very optimistic about a project with our colleagues at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"We weren't able to proceed for a variety of reasons.

"We've now got a similar project with a healthcare partnership which we hope will lead to a positive development."
