Mobile mast proposal decision due
Controversial plans to erect a mobile phone mast on a cinema in the centre of a Shropshire town look set to be agreed by council planning chiefs.

A decision from the local district council is expected next week on the proposals for the Majestic Cinema in Bridgnorth.

The application states the mast would form a base station for mobile communications company O2.

The plans involve increasing the height of the Majestic Cinema's chimney with a special shroud which would mask the three antennae.

Improve coverage

The mobile company said it wants to build the mast to improve coverage in the area.

It states it has considered alternative sites but these did not prove suitable.

Residents in the area have objected saying that they are worried about possible health risks.

A decision will be made on 5 January.
