Road bridge close for repairs
Motorists face delays by work to replace the Ossage Bridge in Whixall.

The bridge, which carries the Low to Dobson's Bridge road, is in a poor condition and the county council is planning to replace it with a concrete pipe with brick-faced headwalls.

The work to replace the bridge is expected to take six weeks, starting on 4 August.

The bridge will be closed to vehicles and horses from 9 to 22 August.

Traffic will be diverted via Low, Horton and Northwood.

Traffic lights will control single lane traffic outside of this period.

Pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be able to use the bridge during the work

Shropshire County Council's principal bridge engineer, John Williams, said: "It is appreciated that the road closure will cause some inconvenience, but we will take all reasonable measures to keep this to an absolute minimum."
