Street warden extension planned
Plans for 21 street wardens to help tackle crime in a Shropshire borough are to go before council bosses.

The proposals for the massive extension of the street warden scheme around Telford could see the uniformed and trained officers working alongside local communities and local police.

Last summer the Wrekin Housing Trust appointed two street wardens - one in Brookside and one in Wellington.

The wardens were issued with bicycles to carry out their patrols and the response from local people is said to be very positive.

Telford and Wrekin Council meet on Monday to discuss the plans.

If approved they will appoint wardens in six key areas to help tackle crime and nuisance and to reassure residents.
