Rail users face weekend delays
Rail passengers using two of Shropshire's busiest routes are facing months of weekend disruption as a 4m programme of track improvements goes ahead.

Buses will replace trains as engineers carry out the work between Shrewsbury and Crewe and Shrewsbury and Chester.

Network Rail said work on the track upgrade between Shrewsbury and Crewe will start this week and continue until September.

Some trains will be diverted via Oxley, while others are to be replaced by buses.

The scheme will cost between 1.5m and 2m.

A further 2m is due to be spent on renewing parts of the line between Shrewsbury and Chester over the next nine months.

That work will also cause disruption on Sundays.
