Superliner displays artist's work

Sculpture designed for Ventura
The sculptures will be prominently displayed in the spa area

Holidaymakers booked on cruise ship Ventura's maiden voyage will also be able to enjoy an Oxfordshire artist's eclectic wall sculptures.

Suzanne O'Driscoll has designed three steel creations for the 115,000-tonne vessel, operated by P&O Cruises.

Her dramatic works will be displayed in the spa area, "reflecting themes connected to the sea".

Dame Helen Mirren - who played the leading role in the hit film The Queen - will name Ventura on 16 April.

It is the largest liner yet to have been built specifically for the UK market and will carry nearly 3,600 passengers and 1,200 crew.

The 14-night cruise, which takes in Barcelona and Gibraltar, leaves Southampton on 18 April.
