First Great Western was forced to slash prices when an independent review found some passengers had been overcharged.

London TravelWatch, the industry watchdog, launched an audit of the train operator's fares when they were increased above the permitted rate.

The train operator has apologised for the mistake and said it would refund the passengers who were overcharged.
