Bridge repairs begin after floods
Flooded out allotments in Osney, Oxford
Thousands of properties were flooded during the summer
Repairs that were delayed on a bridge in Oxfordshire because of the July floods are set to get under way.

Work on Bluebird Bridge, which carries Concorde Avenue over the canal near Spiceball Park Sports Centre in Banbury, was scheduled for 23 July.

But due to the deluge, the project had to be postponed until 3 September, said a spokesman for Oxfordshire Highways.

Concorde Avenue will be closed from its junction with Cherwell Drive. Diversions will be put in place.

""The work is necessary to replace the bridge joints and provide better waterproofing," the spokesman added.

"Over the past few months, the county council has worked to fill in a large number of potholes that have been allowing water to seep through to the steel framework of the bridge."
