Bishop retires on 70th birthday
The Right Reverend Richard Harries, Bishop of Oxford
The Bishop of Oxford has often been at the centre of controversy
The Bishop of Oxford officially retires on Friday - his 70th birthday.

The Right Reverend Richard Harries has held the post for almost 20 years, making him one of the longest serving bishops in the House of Lords.

He has often courted controversy having nominated the gay Canon Jeffrey John for Bishop of Reading and claimed the bible supports homosexual partnerships.

The diocese of Oxford covers the three counties of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
