Annie Lennox will attend a human rights festival in Oxford

Now in its fourth year, The Oxford Brookes Human Rights Film Festival was set up by Humanitarian and Development Practice MA post-graduate students.

More than a dozen films will be screened over 12 days. This year's themes include children's human rights.

Ms Lennox is currently an ambassador for Nelson Mandela's HIV/AIDS campaign.

Humanitarian aid workers

The event will showcase "the diversity of contemporary film making around the work that touches on human rights issues".

Ms Lennox, now a patron of the MA in Humanitarian and Development Practice, is expected to attend the screening of the film "Yesterday".

The film tells the story of a young Zulu woman with HIV trying to cope with being a single mother.

The former Eurythmics star performed at last summer's Live 8 concert.

The Centre for Development and Emergency Practice - where the MA students are based - was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2001, for its "pioneering education and training for humanitarian aid workers".
