Stone circle open to the disabled
The stones
New paths have been created at the Neolithic circle
A four-year project to give full disabled access to a prehistoric stone circle is to be officially opened.

New paths have been created around the Rollright Stones on the border of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.

They mean visitors can now visit both the circle and the Whispering Knights burial chamber without having to walk along the busy road nearby.

The improvements will be opened by Hugo Brunner, the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, on Sunday.

The Cotswold Order of Druids will be celebrating the solstice at the site near Chipping Norton later in the day.

At the same time as the new access improvements, a major clean-up operation had to take place after 70 of the stones were splashed with yellow paint by vandals last year.
