Clarkson studio granted go-ahead
Jeremy Clarkson
Fifty letters of objection to the plans were received
Planners have given the go-ahead for a television studio near Jeremy Clarkson's home despite 50 letters of objection from nearby homeowners.

The planned studio at Enstone Airfield in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, will be used to film the BBC's Top Gear programme, presented by Mr Clarkson.

Councillors say approval has been given on several conditions.

Filming can only take place on 20 days a year, with a maximum audience of 300. Everyone must be off-site by 7.30pm.

Before permission was granted, planning officer Jeff Lowe told how "over 50 letters of objection" were received voicing concerns about traffic and the studio's visual impact.

The new building will be used instead of the programme's current base at Dunsfold in Surrey.
